song of the day #7: cielo.

Cielo means heaven.
And this song by Phil Wickham is an attempt to capture heaven with music.

I bought Phil's CD, Heaven & Earth some time ago and was transfixed on his song, Safe, which I've previously written a blog about, so much that I didn't really delve into the rest of the CD.

It wasn't until the other day when I was writing a blog about another song that Cielo came on shuffle.  I was caught off by the lyric, "I can't sing loud enough when I'm singing for you my God."

It's funny because I've always wanted to be able to write my own music but I always find that other people say so beautifully what I want to say.  This is actually what Phil Wickham does.

As I've been writing recently, I've been struggling personally with some things in my life and I've been fighting to pull through them with a cheerful and joyful heart.  Today as I was walking to school, I prayed a quick prayer asking God to let me be joyful today, to enjoy whatever was thrown my way and to be a true representation of Christ and his love.  The funny part is that it took me most of the day to realize that Christ had really answered my prayer.  Today was a glorious day.  And honestly this song just topped it off.  How great was it to listen to this song after a wonderful day and just worship my Savior who made it possible?  That's what today's song is all about.  Worship.  Here are some lyrics to clue you in on what I mean:

Cielo- Phil Wickham

I'm walking through the bright white gates
Breathing in and out your grace
All around me melodies rise
That echo with the joy inside
So I start to sing
But I can't sing loud enough
I can't sing loud enough
When I'm singing for You my God
I can't sing loud enough
I can't sing loud enough
When I'm singing for You my God
With a thunder roll and a brilliant light
Your glory boasts and the heavens shine
The saints and angels stand in awe
Captured by the beauty of it all
So I fall to my knees
But I can't bow low enough
I can't bow low enough
At the vision of You my God
I can't bow low enough
I can't bow low enough
At the vision of You my God
I can't hold it all inside
I'm reaching for the One who brought me out of death and into life
But I can't lift my hands high enough
Life my hands high enough
When I'm reaching for You my God
I can't lift my hands high enough
Life my hands high enough
When I'm reaching for You my God
Oh I'm reaching for You my God
I'm reaching for You
I'm reaching for You
I'm reaching for You my God

This is the kind of worship that I crave and the kind of worship that Christ deserves.  It's a kind of worship where all of you just isn't enough.  When I sing, I can't sing loud enough, I can't give enough of me in that moment.  In that moment, I want Christ to consume me.  To pour his presence into me.  This song makes me smile from ear to ear.  I can't wait to enter those gates and sing praise to my Lord for all eternity.
